About Shane's Barber Shop & Hair Salon
Our History
Established in 1969, Shane’s Barber Shop began as a straightforward venture with one goal in mind: to provide quality haircuts and create a welcoming environment. With a keen understanding of what it takes to make people happy, Shane knew that opening a barber shop was both a convenient and rewarding business idea. At the time, East Dallas was a burgeoning community, and it seemed like the perfect location for a new shop. The choice to open this new business proved to be a smart one, as the business quickly gained popularity and was wildly successful from the start.
Shane’s journey into barbering began in 1959, right after finishing barber school in Waco, TX. Inspired by a family friend, Shane discovered his talent for cutting hair and turned it into a lifelong career. In the early days, barbering was still a growing industry, and Shane recognized the opportunity to be part of this expanding trend.
Throughout the years, the shop has seen many changes. From its initial walk-in-only system to eventually accepting appointments, Shane adapted to the evolving needs of his clients. The transition was well-received, as customers appreciated the personalized service. One of the shop’s proudest moments came when it received a silver rating from the Dallas Morning News, recognizing Shane’s Barber Shop as one of the top barbers in the city.
Over the decades, Shane has formed close friendships with members of the Dallas Police Department, Fire Department, and countless City locals who have been loyal customers for many years. Some of those clients have been coming since the early days and have never gone anywhere else for their haircuts. This speaks to the strong relationships and trust that Shane has built within the community.
Looking to the future, Shane plans to keep the business thriving with aspirations of expanding to a second location in the coming years. His vision is simple: to continue providing a place where customers feel more like friends than just clients. Shane’s Barber Shop has always been, and will continue to be, a space run by a seasoned and personable barber who values genuine connections and excellent service.

About Lionel Schoen
Lionel Schoen: Master Barber Since 1959 and Owner of Shane’s Barber Shop and Salon
With over six decades of experience, Lionel Schoen has been a cornerstone of traditional barbering since he began his career in 1959. Lionel attended and graduated from a Barbering School in Waco, TX. During this time, Lionel honed his craft early on, specializing in flat tops—a style long associated with military personnel—and layered cuts, which gained popularity over the years.
What truly sets Lionel apart is his incredible tenure. Few barbers can say they've been cutting hair for as long as he has, and his experience is unmatched. Lionel’s approach is both thoughtful and methodical. He begins each session with his new clients by consulting to understand their vision, then examines the crown and texture of their hair to determine the best approach. With his vast experience, he is usually able to skip studying a head of hair, and learns the texture and crown, all while the cutting process, ensuring the perfect result.
Lionel stays current with grooming trends through various publications and television, but he also uses his time with clients as an opportunity to introduce fresh ideas and inspire new styles. His passion for barbering goes beyond just cutting hair—he truly enjoys the daily social interactions that come with the job, making each visit an enjoyable experience for his clients.
When it comes to maintaining hair between visits, Lionel advises clients to shampoo daily, depending on their hair’s oiliness, to keep it looking healthy and fresh. His commitment to offering personalized advice shows his dedication to helping clients look their best, long after they leave the shop.
Lionel’s years of expertise, combined with his personalized approach and genuine enjoyment of client interactions, make him a trusted and beloved barber in the community.
